NOVITÀ is a follow up of the Noise Technical Advice project (2018-2021) and it aims to represent the global railway sector and community of practice in the domain of railway noise and vibration.
Project Description
The NOVITÀ Project ensures funding for the UIC Noise and Vibration Sector, supporting its role in addressing railway noise and vibration issues within a global sustainability framework. Given that rail is the second-largest noise pollutant in the transport sector, effective noise management is crucial to maintaining its environmental advantage and public acceptance.
Key Objectives
Global Awareness & Collaboration: Expanding beyond Europe to engage stakeholders worldwide in developing harmonized noise mitigation strategies.
Policy & Research Integration: Aligning railway noise management with UN Sustainable Development Goals, European Green Deal targets, and international sustainability efforts.
Technical & Strategic Support: Providing members with expert guidance, research coordination, and a platform for best practice exchange.
By funding the UIC Noise and Vibration Sector, NOVITÀ enables global dialogue, research initiatives, and engagement with policymakers, ensuring railway noise and vibration management remains a key pillar of sustainable transport.
