The ATTI (Agreement on freight Train Transfer Inspection) group was founded in 2014 and now has more than 150 members (compared with 44 members back in 2014). The purpose of the group is to facilitate the transfer of wagons between participating RUs, reducing time and costs.

The 2021 ATTI General Assembly (GA) was held online on 8 June, chaired by Stefan Zebracki of DB Cargo and bringing together more than 60 participants.

Sandra Géhénot, UIC Freight Director, highlighted the importance of this very special group for UIC and noted ATTI as a good example of how the sector handles interoperability issues, contributing to making rail easier and more customer-friendly.

In his welcome speech, François Davenne, UIC Director General, highlighted the group’s achievements: “More than 150 members for ATTI is a success; it shows the sector’s ability to organise itself efficiently. Rail freight is part of the solution for decarbonisation. ATTI is a good example of what we can do together. The relationship with the quality management system is important”.

Stefan Zebracki also welcomed the participants and highlighted ATTI’s positive development.

Paulo de Freitas, UIC Senior Freight Advisor, presented the new ATTI railway undertakings (RUs) and the increasing ATTI RU membership.

Discussion focused on topics such as ATTI strategy development, the Quality Guide, database improvement, publication of annual reports, and risk assessment.

The GA approved proposals relating to:

  • ATTI strategy development
  • adaptation of the Quality Guide
  • further development of the database

In the final part of the General Assembly, a new chair and Executive Committee members (six members) were elected for a new three-year mandate. Stefan Zebracki (current chair) and the six member RUs of the Executive Committee (ČD Cargo, DB Cargo, Rail Cargo Austria, SBB Cargo, SNCF Fret and BLS Cargo) were re-elected for a further three years.

The next ATTI General Assembly will be held on 7 June 2022.
