You are invited to attend UIC DIGITAL DAYS (Paris, 7-8 October 2016) so together we can shape the digital future of mobility
As part of the work led by the UIC Digital Platform launched at the end of November 2015, UIC has planned a series of dedicated workshops aimed at exploring the links between digitalization and various dimensions of the railway system.
Following a first workshop in May in Washington on the theme of digitalization and security, UIC is organizing a second workshop to be held on 7 October 2016 at UIC Headquarters, focusing on the links between digitalization on the one hand and freight & passenger services on the other.
This workshop will be part of the event named “UIC DIGITAL DAYS” to be held on 7 and 8 October and consisting of a Workshop on 7 October, open to UIC Members and stakeholders, and of an Open Day to be held on 8 October, open to UIC members and stakeholders but also to the general public.
Particular attention will be paid in the discussions to the need for proper change management in the digitalization process in order to address the fears of many staff faced with a rapidly changing work environment. Furthermore, the workshop will attempt to build bridges between the different generations and between railway experts and digitally skilled young people who could, if they find a way of cooperating, together reinvent the railways.
- The programme of the Workshop of 7 October will be available soon; based on a business-oriented approach, the discussions will aim to show the participants in a practical way how digitalization can bring added value to freight and passenger services, what kind of economic benefits members can expect from it, what its limits are, etc.
- The UIC Digital Open Day will be held on 8 October and will consist of show rooms and small conferences to present the latest innovations and advantages that digitalization can bring to the Railways.
