On 7-8 April 2026, UIC Director General François Davenne met with Azzedine Fridi, Director General of the National Agency for Studies and Monitoring of Railway Investment (ANESRIF) during a visit to the agency’s premises, providing a valuable opportunity to further strengthen cooperation between the two organisations.

Discussions focused on prospects for future collaboration in several key areas, including UIC Rail Academy training programmes, standardisation, telecommunications, the Future Railway Mobile Communication System (FRMCS), and digital transformation. It also emphasised the strategic importance of UIC’s International Railway Solutions (IRSs), which are already used in Algeria and represent a solid foundation for deeper alignment and enhanced interoperability.

Both parties are looking forward to translating these constructive discussions into concrete action and building strong, long-term partnerships in support of railway development.
